1. The swineherd’s name is Eumeaus.
2. He lies about a life on Crete, that he was in Troy with Odysseus, Odysseus was coming home after visiting an oracle and returning to ships ready on Crete.
3. He’s an old wrinkled beggar with rags for clothes.
Odysseus tests Eumeaus – his loyalty to Odysseus – Eumeaus passes the test by not sleeping and staying with the swines. E speaks highly of his master. E also gives his only cloak to the beggar.
1.He proven his faithfulness by telling a story of Odysseus’ parents bought Eumeaus from Laertes when he was a child.
2.I think the first person to see him in his disguise would be Penelope.
