Book III: What happened in sandy Pylos?

Following Athena’s advice, Telemachos visits King Nestor of Pylos to get information about his father. Athena accompanies him disguised as an old family friend, Mentor. Nestor tells Telemachos stories about Odysseus. Telemachos continues his search on horseback with Nestor’s son Pesistratus.
- What is Nestor’s opinion of Odysseus?
- Describe Nestor’s reaction when he realizes that Telemachos’ companion is Athena.

1) Nestor thinks and speaks highly of Odysseus. Mostly because they were good friends and fought in the Trojan War together.
2)Nestor was astonished that Athena was Telemachos’ companion. He also praised Telemachos because he was in the company of a godess. He later sacrificed a heifer to Athena.

1. Nestor thought that Odysseus was best at speech and always advised the best course. He also thought he was a very wise and crafty lord.
2. Nestor was astonished; he clasped Telemachuses hands and prayed to the grey eyed goddess.

1. Nester thinks highly of Odysseus because they are great friends and they fought in the Trajan war together.
2. Nester was astonished when he saw her swift away as a sea eagle. He was surprised that young Telemachus was accompanied by a goddess.

1. Nestor’s opinion of Odysseus is he thinks Odysseus is a good man, he really like him and he has high regards for him.
2. Nestor’s reaction when he found out that Athena was Telemachos’ companion was surprising. Because he kinda freaked, but then he told his men to sacrifice a broad-browed heifer, with horns covered with a thin layer of gold.

1. Nestor thinks very highly of Odysseus, because they were good friends and they both fought in the troy. Nestor thinks Odysseus is bold, clever and had no match in troy.
2. Nestor was astonished and surprised that Telemachus was so young and was already being accompanied by the goddess. He worshiped Athena and so he sacrificed a heifer.

1. Nestors opinion of Odysseus is good and he also called himWise and crafty lord. He liked Odysseus a lot because he sends all of his sons to help and the youngest to go with Telemachus to find Odysseus.
2. Hestor was astonised when he found out that Telemachus had a goddess as a companion, and told him that he will never be a coward or a clod.

1. Nestor’s opinion of Odysseus is that Nestor liked Odysseus, and spoke highly of him because they both fought in the Trojan War together.
2. Nestor is shocked and awed by seeing a godess beside Telemachos. He praises Telemachos for having Athena with him and later he sacrifices a heifer to Athena.

1. Penelope said that when she weaves a mighty web that is in her room. She is going to marry one of the suitors. But for three years she`d make it and then undo it in the night.
2. Athena told Telemachus to go and search for his father and she also gave him a rapid ship, and a willing crew to accompany him on his journey.
