Book II: How the council met in the marketplace of Ithaca; and what came of It

In a town meeting, Telemachos announces his intentions to locate his father and rid his house of the suitors. He is met with ridicule and doubt, especially from Antinoos who confronts Telemachos twice. Athena helps Telemachos prepare for his joureny, and he sets out in secret that night.

1. Penelope was supposed to choose one of the suitors after she finished weaving some kind of cloth but every night she secretly unraveled it because she was wasting time until her husband returned.
2. Athena got him one of the fastest or swiftest ships and also the best crew and she made him go look for his lost father. She got the ship ready and encouraged the crew and made the she made the suitors go home to sleep.

2. The thing Athena does specifically does to help Telemachos is she equiped a rapid ship for him, chose “those Ithacans who’ll serve as a willing crew,” and picked “the craft most fit ship” for them to travel on.

1) Penelope plays a pretty sneaky trick on her suitors by telling them that she’ll marry one of them when she finishes sewing a piece of cloth. She sewed during the day but undone everything at night and her suitors didn’t find out until three years had gone by. So the suitors swore not to leave Telemachus’ until she chose one of her suitors to marry her.
2) Athena had asked Noemon for his ship and gathered a crew for Telemachus and encouraged them to go through with the journey. She also blessed them with a good wind to keep them going on their way

1.Penelope said that when she weaves a mighty web that is in her room. She is going to marry one of the suitors. But for three years she`d make it and then undo it in the night.
2.Athena told Telemachus to go and search for his father and she also gave him a rapid ship, and a willing crew to accompany him on his journey.
