Athena appeals to Zeus for permission to help Odysseus reach home. Odysseus’s home in Ithaca is overun with suitors who are tyring to win Penelope’s hand. With teh help of Athena disguised as Mentes, Telemachos fins the courage to confront the suitors.

1. Odesseus is lost out in sea.
2. Athena is disgusied as Mentor, an old friend of Odysseus.
3. They need him because someone needs to rule their kingdom and throw out the suitors.
4. The suitors are trying to marry Odysseus wife to become king of Ithaca.
5. Athena tells Telemachos to search for his father and to throw out the suitors.

2) Athena disguised herself as a mortal so Telemachos and Penelope won’t recognize her.
3) Telemachos and his mother need Odysseus because Penelope has a lot of suitors asking for her hand.
4) Penelope has suitors because they all think that Odysseus is dead.
5) Athena tells Telemachos to warn the suitors off and build a ship that will take him and his mother to the mainland to find Odysseus.

5) Athena tell Telemacho’s to tell off the suitors, then to fill out a ship that will carry him to the mainland where he can find his father.
